Almost 1 million people have been impacted so far by the heavy rains hitting Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, since last week. The latest report from the Civil Defense of Rio Grande do Sul states that the number of deaths due to the storms has risen to 107. The update this Thursday (9th) indicates that one death is under investigation. The state reports 136 missing and 374 injured.

There are 232,600 people displaced. Of this total, 67,563 are in shelters, and 165,112 are staying with relatives or friends.
Rio Grande do Sul has 428 out of its 497 municipalities reporting some problem related to the storm, with 1,482,006 people affected.
